A Landscape of Lives
After two years spent collecting recordings, training local volunteers, and having parties, the island’s oral history project has now concluded. We dearly hope to be able to launch a phase two later in the year, but meanwhile, there is lots of the collection to explore!
This glorious CD of recordings from the Jura Lives Project is available now, from the Service Point (01496 820161) priced £10.
The stories on the CD have been selected because of the locations that they feature, in an attempt to cover as much of the island as possible. We worked out that this disc represents 0.006% of the whole Jura Lives collection of recordings; we could make 180 different CDs of this length before we repeated anything!
The whole sound archive can be accessed at the Service Point, Craighouse, from Monday to Friday 10:30 – 14:30. There is an easy system for searching and browsing for the recordings that interest you.

We designed the catalogue so that you can get to what interests you in two easy steps and can always go back to the beginning by clicking on the Jura Lives badge at the top left corner of each page.
