Jura can be reached in a number of ways by public transport, via Islay, either by Caledonian MacBrayne car ferry from Kennacraig or by regular, twice daily Loganair flight (operated on behalf of British Airways) from Glasgow Airport. Either method requires that you cross from Islay at Port Askaig via the Jura Ferry.

By Road (Then Car Ferry)

From the Erskine Bridge, whether crossing over from the M8, or passing by on the A82, the journey to the Ferry Terminal at Kennacraig, should take between two -three hours, depending on road conditions.

Once on the A82 follow it along the edge of Loch Lomond to Tarbert , then take the A83 through Arrochar, over the 'Rest and Be Thankful' on to Inveraray and down Loch Fyne, passing Lochgilphead and Tarbert. Five miles further south is the Ferry Terminal at Kennacraig.

If arriving at Port Ellen you will need to to make your way, by car or bus, to the north end of the island and Port Askaig (21 miles) to board the Jura Ferry for the five minute trip across the Sound of Islay to Feolin and then on to your intended destination on Jura. Returning to the mainland will also require to be by Caledonian MacBrayne ferry, requiring a return trip to either Port Askaig or Port Ellen depending on time and day of departure
